Allyship Organic Ladies T-shirt
What does it mean to be an ally?
To be an ally, it is not enough to be merely motivated to express little or no prejudice at all towards Indigenous Peoples. To become an ally, non-Indigenous people must actively engage in the decolonizing process alongside Indigenous Peoples.
Allyship is an ends justify the means: the reconciliation of historical and contemporary corruption and the rectification of the colonial systems as allyship is a continuous process. To be an ally is not a designation that one can earn and hold forevermore. As allies, we must continually engage in self-reflexivity, and must consistently work at being an ally by understanding what allyship, solidarity, and anti-oppresion means.
Take the time to learn about Canada’s colonial past, the injustices and triumphs that continue to unfold today. Walk with us on this journey towards reconciliation, reclaiming identity, and living harmoniously, hand in hand with the rest of Canada.
