It's Woman Crush Wednesday!!!!
Meet Nicole Tupper a.k.a Nikki. Nikki works as the Store Manager at SheNative, taking on more administrative duties in addition to her role as a Sales Associate.
Nikki is a Dene woman from the English River First Nation. She enjoys reading, fishing, and watching Netflix with her cat. She has recently learned the traditional art of beadwork she grew up watching her grandmother do, and have dedicated much of her time to learning this beautiful art.
Nikki came to Saskatoon for the first time at 18 years old to pursue her education at the University of Saskatchewan. During her third year of University she encountered health problems and decided to take a break from studies. That was two years ago. Ever since then she has been struggling to find a place she feels she belongs. Nikki left Saskatoon in the hopes of finding full time work in her hometown, but soon found she was not as content as she once was in the small town she grew up in. She found herself wondering what she was doing and where her life was heading, regretting her decision to drop out of University.
SheNative gave her the ticket she needed to come back to this city that she loves so much. Unable to find full time work in her hometown, Devon offered her fulltime work at her store and a place to live. Since moving back to Saskatoon in September, she has found another part time job, successfully climbed her way out of debt, and has made plans to return to University in the fall of 2017. SheNatives goals and mission coincide completely with what the company has enabled Nikki to do: turn her life around.
"I didn’t expect the feeling of family I experienced when I began working for SheNative, the community of women dedicated to empowering each other, the support from Saskatoon and our customers. It blew me away. I feel as if I am making a difference when working for SheNative, as if I stand for something I actually believe in. I’m inspired to help indigenous women the way SheNative helped me. I look forward to my future with this company, and am honored to be apart of the team." - Nikki Tupper
