“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and live your life.” - Gianni Versace
Since the beginning of time fashion has been a way of identifying class, expressing individual creativity, and above all, setting the bar and creating fashion history. Throughout the decades we’ve had inspiring designers such as Coco Chanel who created a sporty, casual chic look which became the new feminine style of the era. To one of my favorite designer who also changed the sound of music and came through with her own uniqueness, the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla. Her movie inspired 9 year old me to start singing, dancing, and to be expressive in my style, as I’m sure it did for other girls. Since than I’ve found a love for the high waisted jeans, which by the way, are back in style. Perfect timing I’d say but unfortunately for ted jeans can be dangerous. But I’ll take my chances.
Another fashion icon who has build her way up in the industry is Barbados Island Girl Rihanna. When it comes to style with Rihanna, I’m sure we all have noticed she’s fearless and I love the fact that her style is inconsistent… from edgy bad chic to classy glam, to comfy but yet cute outfit collaborations. Don’t forget her all pink everything outfit, personal favorite. Word of wisdom.. too much pink is not enough pink.
