My name is Kara Jade aka Metis Monroe. I grew up in Winnipeg, MB originated from Moosomin First Nations. I’m a hip hop femcee, activist, model and motivational speaker.
Empowerment to me is realizing who you are, what you stand for. Knowing that you deserve your dreams and being willing to do whatever it takes to achieve them. No dream is too big or too small, you just need to figure out the levels to getting there.
Right now I have been working on many things. After modelling for 7 years I have decided to put aside my heels and pick up the mic. What that means to me is really focusing on music this year, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I am going to be shooting my first music video for the song “Kara Jade - Shame on You ft. Prynce” here in Toronto, Ontario. I am also working on the finishing touches of my debut EP “Miss Kara Jade - Levels” which I plan to release in July. I’m also doing a performance with Native Hip Hop Festival in August. I will also be traveling to Jamaica (again) to make moves with connections there on the island as well as make music and create a video. Plenty of announcements and projects on their way.
My word for 2016 has definitely been “Warrior” which I actually had tattooed on my spine in Plains Cree Syllabics. I live by that lifestyle, I will never give up. I will never forget where I came from or the trials and tribulations which made me who I am today.
